Designers Note

This scarf is inspired by a ceremonial tradition from the village of Nahualá, where woven textiles hold deep cultural meaning. Historically, pieces like this were used during marriage rituals—offered as a gesture of commitment, laid out and filled with sweets as part of a proposal.

We were drawn to the symbolism behind it—the idea that something made by hand could carry such significance. Reimagined for everyday wear, the Nahualá Bird Scarf is lightweight, versatile, and designed to be styled simply—at the neck, in the hair, or tied to a bag.

It’s a piece that feels both personal and storied, connecting past tradition with present life.

The Craft

Made using a centuries-old backstrap loom technique, each scarf is woven slowly and entirely by hand in Guatemala. This method connects the artisan directly to the textile, creating subtle variations that make every piece one of a kind. It’s a process that values time, skill, and tradition—resulting in something meant to be worn, kept, and passed on.
